The Discovery Channel Invades Second Life
Location: A myriad of places in Second Life
Characters: A narrator
Natives of the locations we travel to
Props: None; everything would be filmed in its natural state
Individuals have always been drawn to the Discovery channel for its intellectually stimulating programs and educational documentaries. Whether one is learning about the lifestyles of kangaroos or exploring the landscapes of Africa, Discovery Channel acquaints us with the world around us. My proposal for Machinima is to mimic the Discovery Channel and make a documentary about the places of Second Life. We would have a narrator who would describe the places and recite obscure yet insightful facts about the various destinations. In order to make the movie captivating we would have to visit a variety of places: famous destinations such as France and relatively unknown ones like native tribal lands in Africa (yes this destination does exist in Second Life). Not only would the film explore locations, but it would also film the individuals who live there from the lingerie clad women of Butterfly Island to the flamboyant elves on the North Pole (yes, once more these locations and people really do exist in Second Life.) The film would be documentary style and would focus on landscapes, people, and the avatars who chose to come to these locations.
