If I Were To Maintain a Blog....

If I were to maintain a blog, I would do one similar to the postsecret weblog. However, mine would be dedicated to girls/woman only (sorry boys) and it would be a safe space where girls could reveal their feelings freely. For instance, maybe you felt like crying today simply because you don't look like the size zero models in the magazine. Or maybe you want to vent because you hate having to put on your make-up every morning for fear that someone might throw you the "are you ok? you look so tired" line and all you want to scream is "NO, I WAS JUST TOO LAZY TO PUT MY MAKE-UP ON!" You would be free to write three little words or an entire paragraph entry to express your feelings. On this blog, girls and woman would be able to express their true feelings in this self-conscious, judgmental world. It would be the female safe space, dedicated to maintaining our sanity. Being a girl is tough, being a girl in a world where looks are everything is even tougher!

Ha ha ha, I love this Mo!!! Absolutely agree with you...I even think it would be frickin awesome if we could have one that was for Santa Clara female students where we could really get down to the nitty gritty of what drives us crazy...I mean blogs are usually read by those who are mostly effected by it or feel most like the person/people blogging. Why not? I think that a lot of things happen on our campus or things that are happening around the world and people here on campus just don't care. I was talking with a member of Every 2 Minutes (Woman's sexual assault group on campus) and it is shocking how much the involvement on campus with any of their programs on campus have continued to decrease each year. Maybe the internet is a better place to target this? I mean how many hours do students spend online anyways? If there was a blog format where you could get your voice heard about things that are happening on campus or in the world would more people here it?

I love your idea for a blog! Sometimes you need someone to listen to you, even if it's not someone you know! I think it's a really personal idea yet it still pulls a community together (of girls who need somewhere to vent). It's great.
