My boyfriend is a twat....?
This was an interesting weblog that took me a little bit to figure out. After I wandered around the site and looked at her ‘all about me section’ it all started to come together. I find it interesting that someone would put their whole life onto the internet. Do you really want people reading all of the information that you post? Personally I don’t like everyone knowing everything about me, but I also don’t lead too interesting of a life that I would feel the need to start my own blog up and torture those with boredom, who my come upon my posts accidentally. I realize the British have a different style of humor, but I thought it was very interesting how Zoe described her boyfriend as a twat and one of her daughters as a ‘stroppy little cow’, not something I think I would ever want to be referred to as. Until exploring this site I hadn’t really considered the fact that when bloggers write about their friends and family, they could easily offend or hurt the people they choose to write about. This makes blogging even more controversial. Although people do have freedom of speech, I personally wouldn’t want someone publicly bitching about me on the internet where anyone can have access to the writing. Guess I better be careful who I piss off in the future! The possibilities of humiliating someone could be endless.

Im glad someone else found this blog to be a little weird. I was having a hard time reading it too until I read all about the author. Its funny that you mention the nicknames of her family members, because that is what turned me off about this particular blog. I dont know what I would do if my mom described me the way she describes her daughter. Even the title of the blog is a little...off. But hey, its her personal blog so I hope she has prepared herself for any backlash she may get. Can you imagine being her daughter and coming across your mother's blog that told the world that you were "sloppy"? The last part of your post was especially note worthy to me. It really is weird to think that people you piss off may be writing about you at this moment. There may be horrible things written about us on the internet that we may never know about. Finally, I agree with you once more. I would never discuss my personal life on the internet with a bunch of people that I dont know. Its as if people use these blogs as diaries and they seem to spill information that is highly opinionated, and deeply personal. But I guess if people were bothered by the blogger's comments, or found it boring, the blog wouldn't exist. I must be missing something.
I do think that blogs often offend people, which could be argued as part of their appeal, but I also think that sometimes there are just people in the world who need to bitch about their lives. And if the only way they can express themselves is to total strangers.... maybe thats healthy. Its also nice to know that you can comment blogs like this... so maybe sensitive people such as ourselves can share our own parenting techniques and potentially brighten her life... just kidding... but still, we can tell her how we feel...
I thought this was a really interesting blog too! It threw me off at first the way that she spoke about her kids, boyfriend, those whom you would most consider the most treasured in your life. But I thought about it some more because there are times when I say things about my family to friends that aren't necessarily nice things but honestly, don't we always bitch and moan about family and friends? Aren't they the ones who know us best and don't let us get away with anything? Although I don't think I would be comfortable having this type of a blog myself, because my family would probably kill me, ha ha ha, I can understand why others choose to express themselves this way rather than just only talking to a few people, you can basically converse with anyone and everyone.
I agree with all of you! This blog was a little offensive and boring at times. It reminded me of a recent episode of Family Guy. I forget the exact concept and context that this comment was said but Brian (for those of you who watch the show) tells a complaining Stewie "if you don't like it, then go complain on the internet." This whole weblog seemed to embrace the epitome of this statement. This woman who seems to be bored and almost disgusted with her life and those around her. It seems hurtful and embarrassing for those the weblog is being written about. It's almost like a dramatic talk show, where an individual (the weblogger) complains to an attentive audience (those who read the weblog). I guess I just don't embrace the concept of weblog, but perhaps I just don't understand. I am a pretty private person and I am not willing to put my entire life out there. Particularly publicly express my private thoughts towards those I love and care about most.
