Another quick thought...

Sorry but this came to me after I published my post. Isn't this fanfiction idea a great example of Marc's idea "Participation as a form of communication." Fans participating in their interest/love for a show or book and communicating that enjoyment to other fans. It seems to fit perfectly with the fanfiction.
