... to blog.
Well technically this class inspired me to blog but I had never thought it was something I would really enjoy until I read Tony Pierce's article appropriately titled "How to blog"... the section that really caught my eye was #17:
"change your style. mimic people. write beautiful lies. dream in public. kiss and tell. finger and tell. cry scream fight sing fuck and dont be afraid to be funny. the easiest thing to do is whine when you write. dont be lazy. audblog at least once a week. "
I had never really understood why people would blog on a regular basis, but if it is a way for creative people to express themselves on a much wider scale. To be honest there would be a charm to be able to express yourself completely the way you want to without any conventions and potentially meet others who either admire your work or.... don't (apparently if they dont you're doing right by Tony's standards).
I had to think about how somebody would express themselves without the internet as a tool. Granted the last time I remember not having internet at hand was before middle school, BUT I can only imagine that it was much more difficult for people to connect with others they didnt meet in their everyday lives... maybe close to impossible... unless they just randomly dialed numbers in the phonebook... which is creepy.
Point being: maybe Ill start blogging all of my inspirations down.... maybe this is how I shall collect my following.... maybe.

this is so true that with out the internet it would be so much harder to express opinions or ideas in a way where no one could know who it is.
Granted there has always been, and hopefully always will be, journals and diaries, it does not have the same appeal of anonymity while still being public about your ideas.
the internet is a great thing and i am eager to join your following...
I totally agree with you. I think that internet is an amazing tool for communication, and like any tool it can be abused or used creatively. I think that blogs are an amazing way to express one's opinion or just to be creative. I really like what you said about expressing yourself without any conventions and then meeting other people who have an opinion about your work. I think in the real world it is much more difficult to accomplish this but on the internet it really is possible.
