How to Blog

I found the article “How to Blog” very amusing. The majority of the guidelines listed are pretty accurate, at least from my knowledge of blogging. However, some suggestions stuck out that should really be ignored. Number 4, “cuss like a sailor,” is a prime example of a blogging how to that should not be followed. First of all, I consider swearing to be a sign of ignorance, especially when associated with any work that people want taken seriously. Secondly, it is just plain unnecessary. The directions that I found most entertaining and pertinent were numbers 2, “if you think youre a good writer, write twice a day;” 17, “people like pictures. use them;” and 19, “push the envelope in what youre writing about and how youre saying it.” One big problem with this article, however, is that the author does not add apostrophes when he writes youre. The author writes about making sure to use spell check and edit your work before publishing, but he/she hasn’t even completed these tasks. It’s just difficult to take someone seriously when they have contradictions in their own work. Overall, however, I still found this article very engaging, I’d just like to see a little for accuracy.
