Blog I laughed the most at....

The blog that I could not stop reading was “Passive Aggressive Notes.com” which everyone must check out! I could not stop laughing. Its format and purpose are simple, but it definitely got my attention. Basically, the blog displays pictures sent in from viewers that show passive aggressive behavior. Some that I saw were signs on the front doors of commercial stores, notes between roommates, postings left in bathroom stalls, post-it notes found in offices, etc.
Most of the posts were crude humor, but as I am sitting here clicking on posts in the library, there were somewhere I burst out laughing. The ones that I found to be the funniest, would make me sound really perverted, so I will allow you all to view the site for yourself.

An example of one that I found to be pretty amusing was a picture of a toilet with a note near the seat that said something to the effect of, “Dearest roommate, prophylactics are not meant to be flushed down the toilet (see Google). Please make the necessary changes.” Below the note was a condom floating in the toilet. Not that this particular situation happened to me, but lets just say I have had my fair share of not-so-considerate roommates. And yes, I am one of those, call me crazy, people who leave post-its just like the ones posted on the blog, politely asking my roommates to clean up after themselves. I think my personal experiences definitely enhanced my viewing pleasure. Another one that I found that I thought was funny, but may be questionable to all of you, was a picture of microwave in an corporate office kitchen with a note that read: “If there is time remaining on the microwave after cooking your food, PLEASE clear it. Some of us have OCD.” Again, I burst out laughing, simply because microwaves with blinking seconds remaining on the timer are one of my biggest pet peeves. Maybe the person who posted the picture was right, some of us have OCD.

I must be honest, I have never really looked for blogs on the Internet, but I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent surfing the blogs. After reading over some of the class’s responses to blogs, I realized that a “successful” blog depends on its viewers. While some people found particular blogs to be hilarious, I perused those same blogs and did not see the humor in it. Like I said above, I think personal experiences and personalities play a huge role in how the blogs are received by viewers. For all I know, I may be the only one who thinks “Passive Aggressive Notes.com” is actually funny. But I think I would be all right with that because I got a good laugh out of reading various posts on the site. Let me know what you think of this blog….

Thanks for a heads up on this blog, I thought it was pretty amusing. I think it's harmless fun that allows people to blow off steam and make people laugh at the same time. I thought the one about the toilet paper note was really ironic given that the roommate who did it thought that not communicating face to face was childish. People are funny like that sometimes. I think anything that reveals unique, flawed character traits is incredibly interesting. Blogging is a way to reveal those traits and not be penalized for it, and in a way, it even embraces these qualities.

But that is one worry that I have about blogs. It can create online communities that perpetuate inappropriate, immoral beliefs and there is nothing in place to monitor or prevent that. Again, this blog is harmless and fun, but it did make me think about how blogs can potentially reinforce negative behavior.

haha truth, this blog was hilarious! I'd completely agree with your comment about how a blogs success depends on the audience. It seems that alot of times people like blogs that they can relate to, something that speaks to their personal struggles as, say a dog groomer. I tend to gravitate towards blogs and sites that point out the funny contradictions in our society... I wonder if anybody's ever done a study on what a blog really says about a person... or maybe thats just self evident...

I never understood the power of being passive aggressive. Maybe it's because we see force and physical altercation as the only means to an end, but this blog definitely puts that mentality to rest. I agree that it's humorous, but even moreso in the sense that it's celebrating the power of words and the nuances that they can present that even brute force can't. One of my close friends has signs put up all over his house (which he shares with his housemates). His sink for example: Left Side - "Rinsed dishes only! Next step, dishwasher!"
Right Side - "This is where dirty dishes go. If this is full, someone is failing at life."
